Red Wine Diet

.... now that it's almost spring, it's time to think about that summer diet. Happily, if you drink red wine, you are in for a treat.

Scientists have recently noted that red wine kills fat .. at least that's what the experts at Science Daily tell us.

"When cells were exposed to resveratrol, our studies showed a pretty dramatic reduction in the conversion to fat cells and a lesser but still significant increase in the mobilization of existing fat, or the rate at which the cells metabolized stored fat," said Mark Leid, a professor of pharmacology in the OSU College of Pharmacy. "This clearly could be one of the explanations for the health benefits that some researchers believe can be linked to moderate red wine consumption."

  1. Marisa,

How I wish that in the end, it truly mattered . . . but it doesn't. Truth is, a 5 oz glass of red wine yields about 125 calories and unless you're burning it off, it's going to accumulate. As Renee Zellweger said, "it's just math." I've found weight rather than lost it since I've discovered wine, and therefore, I've had to offset it by increased exercise. I'm not going to stop drinking it so unless I want to carry it around with me, I have to burn it and for me, that equates to running about 25 miles a week. Truth hurts, indeed.

  2. Hi all,

Please be aware that Resveratrol is so minuscule in your everyday foods, that it get's flushed out easily by your system.

Look for a supplement if you are serious about this. Please read this scientific study to understand why Resveratrol in wine or everyday foods will probably be to small for good health:
