Wine Class: Taught in French (NYC)

i 2010 01 wine

French is the international language of wine, and after meeting so many fabulous wine makers and finding myself unable to communicate, I've been taking advantages of language and cultural classes at the French Institute Alliance Francaise

One upcoming class on June 4, given by Thierry Bidault de l'Isle, is taught in French! Thierry Bidault de l'Isle was born in Bourgogne (Burgundy) but was baptised with Champagne per family tradition. He tasted his first glass of Romanée at 16 years old at a dinner for the Chevaliers du Tastevin, a Burgundy brotherhood in which his father was an officer. Thierry studied literature and political science in Paris and it was then, at just 28 years old, that he began to appreciate wines (in moderation) and to study its origins and varieties. In 2004, he wrote a booklet about wine entitled “Vins, Champagne, etc.”

In this class, we will dscover three of the biggest French wine regions: Côte du Rhône, Bordeaux, and Bourgogne I've been to these regions and even taught about the wines, yet hearing the talk in French promises to be a fun experience.

You can read about one element of a recent Bordeaux visit here.
