Day 2 Master of Wine Symposium “Forging Links”

JR

So I am on "Day 2" of the Master of Wine "Forging Links" symposium. Fabulous! The photo is from the first panel featuring Jancis Robinson, Eric LeVine (Cellartracker), Rowan Gormley (Naked Wine) and Michael Linton.

The subject of "Wine on the Web" is good and the information may be new to many in the room. It is interesting to hear these experts speak. Perhaps the most interesting topic was the future of wine buying, which may be people tasting a wine in a bar or restaurant, clicking an application on their phone, and buying a case.

  1. Marisa D’Vari here — Joshua Green of Wine & Spirits magazine made an interesting point in the Q/A about how even if one could take a photo of the label of the wine to send to the application that would allow the consumer to buy it, there is a question if the store has the wine in stock.

This launched into a new discussion about wine-searcher … which is perhaps one of the more interesting aspects of this panel.
