Rose Champagne: Comparing Top Brands
By Marisa D'Vari | December 5th, 2010 | Category: News, Wine reviews | No Comments »Thinking of rose champagne this holiday season? Everyone loves the happy bright cheerful color of rose champagne, and also the taste that goes along with the extra addition from the Pinot Noir. The wines below are great food wines and many can also be served as an aperatif.
The wines below were part of a group chosen by Ed McCarthy, author of Champagne for Dummies and member of the Wine Media Guild, for our annual December lunch. This list is simply my favorites!
2001 Charles Gardet Rosé
One of my favorites, very well balanced with a lot of finesse.
NV Piper-Heidsieck Brut Rosé Sauvage (Rémy Cointreau USA)
Barrel fermented and quite delicious and well balanced. Fresh and fruity.
NV Henriot Brut Rosé (Henriot USA)
Great structure, very well balanced, assertive with interesting finish.
NV Delamotte Brut Rosé (Wilson-Daniels)
Fabulous - richly textured with gorgeous red fruit.
Deutz Brut Rose
Very rich with brioche palate and a certain nuttiness. iast
2002 Perrier-Jouët “Fleur de Champagne” Brut Rosé (Pernod Ricard)
Another favorite, very delicate with sense of strawberries.
