Wine Expert Flippo Bartolotta Leads Tasting Tour of Top Italian Wines
By Marisa D'Vari | February 22nd, 2011 | Category: News | 1 Comment »So it's not often when an energetic and passionate wine expert such as Filippo Bartolotta (editor of L’Espresso Guide to Italian wine) comes to Manhattan to meet with a tiny handful of the city's most notable journalists to lead a tutored tasting through Italy, including a food and wine pairing of many dishes (black truffles, anyone?)
The event was so much fun! I The Barolo and Brunello and FranciaCorta was reason enough to have a taste of these fine wines, yet Bartolotta enlivened the tasting with personal stories of his travels, the producers, and the history of the wines we were tasting.
Chefs were brought in to prepare perfect pairings with the wines discussed, and in the end, guests could savor Giusti Balsamic Vinegar of Moderno over aged Parmesian cheese, and incredible Antica Doceria Bonajuto Italian chocolate.
Below are some of the wines experienced:
Wines:
Arnaldo Caprai “25 anni”, Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG 2005
Bellavista Franciacorta Cuvée Brut
Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2004
