The Douro Boys at Pichon-Longueville
By Marisa D'Vari | June 22nd, 2011 | Category: News, Vinexpo | No Comments »Fun party at Pichon-Longueville on Monday June 20, to coincide with the many international guests at Vinexpo in Bordeaux.
The 27 producers of Douro Wines set up tables in the vat room of this storybook chateau to showcase the wines of the region. They included:
Churchill's, Quinta de Cottas, Quinta do Crasto, Duorum, Durham-Agrellos,
François Lurton, Quinta da Gaivosa, Lavradores de Feitoria, Niepoort,
Quinta do Noval, Pocas, Poeira, Quinta do Portal, Prats & Symington,
Real Companhia Velha, Quinta da Romaneira, Roquette & Cazes, Quinta de la Rosa,
Sogrape Vinhos, Symington Family Estates, Quinta do Vale Dona Maria,
Quinta do Vale Meão, Quinta do Vallado, Wine & Soul
(see more gorgeous pictures of the food and festivities here)
The wines were very good, and it was interesting to see how Touriga Nacional was used ... some producers made 100% of this varietal, while others used very little in the blend! Delicious white wines from the region were served with an elaborate areception after the tasting.
Duoro reds of mature vintage were served with a delicious rustic Duoro themed dinner.
Here is another perspective of the evening ...
