Very excited to read in the latest issue of Wine Spectator that Daniel Boulud, one of my favorite NY chefs, is on the cover of the September 2011 issue representing French Chefs in America.
I’ve interviewed Chef Boulud many times for many publications over the past several years, starting from his Le Cirque days and it’s been great to see his evolution. He is a very down to earth individual, always very upbeat and creative and fun to be around.
Raj Vaidya, featured above, is Restaurant Daniel’s head sommelier and I’ve been to many of his food and wine pairings, as well as interviewed him for many publications. The articles are under copyright, yet here is a passage I can share:
Rajeev Vaidya is one of Manhattan’s more popular
sommeliers, because of his storied restaurant, priceless
cellar, and also his considerable charm and enthusiastic
manner. His passion for guest education – and guest
pleasure – is palpable, and now that he has the coveted
WSET diploma, could a pursuit of the Master of Wine
qualification be far behind?
He’s a great guy, features lots of fun and educational wine pairing events at Restaurant Daniel (see events on their web site and sign up)
Daniel Johnnes is also the Wine Director for Daniel Boulud’s Dinex Group, including
Restaurant Daniel, DB Bistro, DBGB, Cafe Boulud, and Bar Boulud and wrote a fabulous book about wines …. you can see my review here:
