#EWBC Kicks Off in Brescia with a Bang

"Where's our wine?"
Excited delegates of the 2011 European Wine Bloggers conference happily piled into the luxurious ballroom of the Hotel Vittoria friday night, blackberries and cameras and ipods and even laptops in hand, greeting old friends and presenting their wine.
Above is the gorgeous wooden case of the Fratelli Berlucci wine we brought to share ... (the wine nicely chilling in the ice bucket) yet our other bottle from Ca' del Bosco was nowhere to be found!
This evening, pre-conference, was called 'bring your own bottle night' and Jim Budd, a table mate, brought some mature Vouvrey treasures from the Loire (his friend Carol, above, holds the wooden box of our vintage Berlucci Franciacorta).
"Anything good to try!" was a familiar refrain, as the night went on and bloggers thirsting for new tastes stopped by various tables. In addition to people like Jim who brought a wine representative of his region and passion, or others who brought Franciacorta to celebrate our hosts and pay homage to their wine, were some sales-y types who brought new brands they wanted to try out.
