Baccarrat & Boisset: An Evening of Brilliant Pairings
By Marisa D'Vari | November 10th, 2011 | Category: News | No Comments »"I named the wines with numbers that represent key moments of my life," says charming Jean-Charles Boisset, whose new collection of wines were presented at the glamorous Bacarrat store in Manhattan in a very posh event hosted by Anthony Dias Blue.
The collection included sparklers, chardonnay, pinot noir, and a cabernet sauvignon, all named with numbers that had key significance for Jean-Charles. For example, the JCB No. 7, my favorite Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast, was named for the moment he had his first taste of wine.
Of particular interest as well was that each wine was matched with a specific Baccarat glass, and it is really true when they say that the taste of wine is influenced by the shape of the glass -- especially for the Cabernet.
"Numbers are easy," says Jean-Charles, mentioning that his mother loves the JCB No. 22 from Mendocino Ridge, and often asks him to bring over a case of the "22" when he is flying from California to France.
