Exploring Casa PomonaBy Marisa D'Vari | October 2nd, 2013 | Category: News, Restaurant Reviews | No Comments »
Last night I had a fab dinner at Casa Pomona, a new restaurant in the Upper West side on Columbus between 84th and 85th. Above is Marion Maur, who is also involved in Bocelli in the Park, Marion’s Country Kitchen, and SushiSamba.
Of course, it was a gorgeous night and fun to grab a table outside. Though the outside seating is rather casual, the cuisine is incredible! This is a tapas bar, and everything was so delicious it was difficult to stop ordering! Yet in the name of restraint we indulged in what looked to be the best tasting and healthiest food on the menu – the shrimp were really fresh and delicious. muscles that were incredibly fresh, grilled octopus salad, and a delicious steamed fish.
And why not with Chef Don Flores at the helm. Flores, who has worked at the large Midtown eatery Tao most recently, had a passion for Spanish food dating back to earlier kitchen work at the Soho spot Mercat.
The waiters all have their favorites, so it’s good to consult them before ordering — or look around to see what other people are having, which is what I did!
The inside is fun soon, a great place to go when all this summer weather is gone.
