color: Opaque, purple, scintillating
aroma: med+ intensity, very balanced and elegant nose of smooth black fruit, vanilla and sweet violet suggests oak treatment
palate: dry, acid med tannin med body med alc 13.5 finish med +

Style note: Extremely well balanced and delicious bordeaux blend from Sonoma with polished and restrained flavors of ripe black fruit, earrth, tobacco leaves, casis, blackberry, and some top notes of pomegranate. A great wine for a very elegant steak

2006 De Lorimier Malbec (USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley)
tasted blind

color: purple, opaque, true to rim, purple
nose: med+ intensity, very concentrated, slight tobacco aroma (very slight), sense of rich concentrated red/black fruit

palate: dry acid is med tannin is med (smooth) body is med+ alc is est 14.5 finish is med+

Style note: Very concentrated rich ripe fruits points to a new world region. Incredible ripeness combined with excellent balance

2007 Mazzocco Petite Sirah Pony Reserve (USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley) 

color: deep opaque intensity, tears med form and fall
nose: pronounced, intense black and red fruit, very ripe, yet good acid and a sense of earth/minerals that suggests terroir,
dry acid is med+ tannin is med body med+ alc est 15 finish med+

Style note: A very ripe style that suggests a warm climate, good winemaking to balance the high alc with structural elements (tannin, acid) and a velvety finish that makes it a good pair with steak.

2006 De Lorimier Cabernet Sauvignon Crazy Creek Vineyard (USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley)

color: very dark purple, fushia rim, watery white miniscus
nose: med+ intensity, a sense of minerals/earth, black jammy fruit, very ripe fruit, some tar, blackberries, some fig,
palate: dry, acid is med+ tannin is smooth and has a vibrational quality, body is med+ alc is est 14.5 finish is med+ and very layered and textured with rich ripe fruit, mocha, chocolate, fig, dried blackberries …

Style note: A very sophisticated and textured wine with layers of chocolate, fig, ripe and nearly dried black fruit, and spice. Very balanced acid/tannin/fruit that would pair nicely with steak. 

2006 De Lorimier Cabernet Sauvignon Warm Springs Ranch (USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley, Warm Springs Ranch)

color: very dark purple, fushia rim, watery white miniscus
nose: medium intensity, a sense of heavier (volcanic?) earth, more red fruit than black, a bit shy …
palate: med+ intensity, dry, acid is med (very lively and juicy), tannin is med+ , body is med (lighter) alc is 14 est, finish is zippy red higher acidity fruit such as pomegranate, red raspberry, cranberries

Style note: A palate-cleansing red wine with high acidity, minerals/earth, and lots of tart red fruit with chocolate and mocha overtones on the medium plus finish. Can work with lighter fare such as roasted salmon or duck.
