The Roussillon is on the rise!
Before tasting this 2014 bottle of Domaine de Bila-Haunt Rouge from Michel Chapoutier, I asked my companion to writing a tasting note … before the bottle was open!
I’ve been doing this lately, to see if my perceptions of the region and what its wines would taste like could accurately be verified when tasting the wine.
Happy to say that my perception about the wine matched its excellence – it was a wine with red and black fruit, delicious garrigue and wild herbs, 13.5 well balanced alcohol, racy acidity and tannins that were smooth and rustic at the same time.
It was an incredible wine, especially for the $15 price, and paired very well with steak and roasted salmon.
