Chiaretto meets Custoza at Cantina di Custoza

The day begins as we meet winemaker Luca Oliosi in the large, bright shop of this impressively large consortium. The consortium produces 7 million bottles a year. Many customers are busy filling up their personal wine vessels with wine from machines that resemble a gas pump.

Cheerfully spread around the room are attractively packaged boxes of wines to buy as gifts.

After a tour of the barrel and fermentation room we go upstairs for a tasting that begins with the Bardolino Classico 2016 from the Val Dei Molini range. It is a pretty orange/pink color with aromas of tangerine zest. On the palate, bright acidity ad 13.5% abv.
