Winery suggestions from guest reader John Engstrom
Claiborne & Churchill – Excellent Riesling and Gewurztraminer, along with superb Pinot and Grenache
Beautiful gardens, and great staff.
Saucelito Canyon – Tasting room for an Arroyo Grande winery – known for old vine Zinfandels, deservedly so, but also a fine Grenache Blanc
Chamisal – Excellent Pinot Noir, and very good Chardonnay
Alban – not open to the public – all Rhone varietals including one of the best Roussanne’s anywhere.
Autry – Eclectic little winery that gets about half their grapes from Edna Valley, and half from Paso Robles.
Hotel suggestions from guest reader John Engstrom
– none in Edna Valley, all these are in nearby Pismo Beach.
Kon Tiki Inn – Where we always stay – great value, on the ocean.
Vespera on the Ocean – More amenities, but more expensive.
The Cliffs Inn and Spa – between the two others in terms of amenities, and cost. My wife has stayed here for work.
Restaurant suggestions from guest reader John Engstrom
– again, none in Edna Valley, so these are in Pismo.
La Bodegas – Tapas and other Spanish and Portugese specialties
Oyster Loft – Ocean view and great seafood
Giuseppe’s Cucina Italiana – Fabulous pizza and generlly good Italian
Cracked Crab – Another seafood restaurant, because Pismo is well-known for them.
